Ford Motor Company Fund launches its 13th annual Ford Blue Oval Scholars program awarding the achievements of graduating seniors from various Detroit-area high schools. First time scholarship applicants can click "New Applicants" below to apply.

Ford Blue Oval Scholars Returning Applicants

Any student who has received a scholarship from Ford Motor Company becomes a “Ford Blue Oval Scholar” and is granted access to a host of other scholarship opportunities offered by Ford’s many community and business partners, as well as career tips, volunteer opportunities, employment postings, and valuable advice from Ford employees and leadership.  Scholars are encouraged to follow Ford Careers on LinkedIn, Ford Fund Education on Facebook and visit www.fgb.life regularly to benefit from their Ford Blue Oval Scholar status.

Recipients of this Ford Blue Oval Scholarship may apply to receive $1,000 of gap funding per year for their sophomore through senior years of higher-education pursuits (total gap funding not to exceed $3,000 per eligible student). Funds are disbursed directly to the respective educational institution by Ford’s education community agency.

  • Scholars must maintain enrollment status and a minimum GPA of 2.0 in a post High School program.
  • If GPA is under 2.0, Scholar must submit a 250-word essay explaining why.
  • Scholars applying for gap funding must register using the Returning Applicants form below.
  • Gap funding is limited. Scholarships are awarded on a first come, first served basis.

2021 Detroit Ford Blue Oval Scholarship Form (New Students)

  • Ford Blue Oval Scholarship

    Ford Motor Company is committed to acknowledging and rewarding students in southeastern Michigan who have demonstrated commitment to their own future by improving their grades and overall school performance over the past school year.
  • Students from each of the following ten (10) schools will be awarded scholarships to assist with their education beyond high school. Seven (7) $1000 tuition/books/materials scholarships are available to students at each elegible school. Students may qualify for additional $1000 scholarships during their sophomore through senior years of post high school studies.

    • Harper Woods High School (Harper Woods)
    • Mt. Clemens High School (Mt. Clemens)
    • Osborn High School (Detroit)
    • Pontiac High School (Pontiac)
    • River Rouge, High School (River Rouge)
    • Southeastern High School (Detroit)
    • Western High School (Detroit)
    • Ypsllanti Community High School (ACTech High and STEMM Academy)
  • Student Requirements

  • Students who have shown improvement in their academic achievement and overall school performance with a grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.0 are eligible. Students must be accepted into a post high school program (college, university, trade school or apprenticeship) and scheduled to begin within one year of the scholarship award date.
  • Requirements for Scholarship Consideration

    • A completed Scholarship Application form
    • An essay of 250 words or less stating, Why I am uniquely qualified for this award. The essay should describe these challeges that the student has faced in their life which impacted their education and how they overcame those challenges and improved their school performance.
    • A written recommendation from a teacher or school councelor.
    • An official copy of their high school transcript

2021 Detroit Ford Blue Oval Scholarship Form (Returning Applicants)

  • Ford has awarded nearly $1 million in scholarships to assist over 1,000 Detroit-area high school graduates with tuition, books, fees and other educational costs. Ford Motor Company Fund invests more than $18 million a year in scholarships and other education initiatives globally.
  • Gap funding application is open March 22nd through April 30th

    How to Apply

    • Scholars must maintain enrollment status and a minimum GPA of 2.0 in a post High School program
